How To Use
Open the bag and spread the topsoil directly onto the area you’re working on, whether that’s a bare patch on the lawn, a raised bed, or around newly planted shrubs and borders. Use a rake or trowel to level and firm the soil into place, breaking up any larger clumps as you go. For lawn repairs, work the soil in around grass seed or turf edges and water in well. For raised beds and containers, mix with existing soil or compost to improve overall structure before planting.
Tips & Advice
Topsoil like this is best used as a soil conditioner or filler rather than a complete growing medium on its own, so for containers and beds it’s worth blending it with a good multi-purpose compost to boost nutrient content and drainage. Store any unused soil in a dry, sheltered spot to stop it becoming waterlogged, and buy a little extra if you’re levelling a larger area, as settling often means you need a top-up once it’s watered in.
