How To Use
Place one or two firelighters at the base of your fireplace, stove, BBQ or fire pit, then build kindling loosely around and over them to allow air to circulate. Light the wood wool directly with a match or long lighter and leave it to establish a steady flame before gradually adding smaller pieces of kindling, followed by larger logs or charcoal once the fire has taken hold. Avoid overcrowding the firelighter at first, as it needs airflow to burn effectively and transfer heat to the surrounding fuel.
Tips & Advice
Keep the pack somewhere dry, as damp wood wool firelighters can be slower to catch and less effective. For a stronger initial flame in a stove or log burner, use two firelighters positioned slightly apart rather than one large clump, giving the fire room to breathe as it builds. They’re also handy to keep in the garden shed or car boot for spontaneous BBQs, campfires or emergency fire-lighting when out and about.
