How To Use
Open the bag and break up any compacted lumps before spreading. For lawn levelling, sprinkle the soil evenly over the area you wish to fill, then rake it smooth and lightly firm it down before reseeding or turfing. For raised beds and borders, simply tip the soil in and mix it with existing soil or compost to bulk it out and improve structure. When topping up containers or filling small gaps, add gradually and firm gently around the base of plants to avoid air pockets.
Tips & Advice
This top soil is best used as a filler and structural improver rather than a complete replacement for compost, so for planting directly into it, mixing in some multi-purpose compost or well-rotted organic matter will give better results for young plants. Water lightly after use to help the soil settle, especially before laying turf or sowing seed, and store any unused soil in a dry spot as it can become heavy and clumpy if left exposed to rain for long periods.
