How To Use
Fill your seed trays, pots or modules with the compost, gently firming and levelling the surface before sowing seeds at the depth recommended on their packet. Lightly cover with a thin layer of compost where needed, water carefully to keep the surface moist without waterlogging, and place in a warm, light spot to encourage germination. Once seedlings have developed their first true leaves, they can be pricked out and potted on into fresh compost to continue growing.
Tips & Advice
Because this compost is deliberately low in nutrients, it’s best suited to the early stages of a plant’s life rather than long-term growing, so plan to pot seedlings on into a richer multi-purpose or potting compost once they’re established. Keep the bag sealed and stored somewhere dry between uses to maintain a consistent texture, and always water little and often rather than soaking trays, as young seedlings are particularly vulnerable to damping off in overly wet conditions.
