How To Use
Clean and dry the surface you want to protect, then peel back the backing strip and press the copper tape firmly around the rim or edge of the pot, container, or bed, overlapping the ends slightly to form a continuous ring. Make sure the tape sits smoothly against the surface with no gaps underneath, as slugs and snails will find their way through any breaks in the barrier. Press down firmly along the full length to ensure good contact and a lasting bond.
Tips & Advice
For the best results, apply the tape to clean, dry surfaces in mild weather so the adhesive can bond properly, and check it periodically for any lifting edges or gaps that pests could exploit. Copper tape works on the principle of a barrier the pests are reluctant to cross, so it’s most effective when the full circumference of a pot or bed edge is covered rather than just a partial run. Over time the copper may dull or discolour with weathering, but this doesn’t affect its deterrent properties, and the tape can often be lifted and reused on a fresh surface if it’s removed carefully.
